Back in the Saddle

Let me just tell you how awesome my Sunday was.

While I was at Ward Council, Ellie got Sadie and herself ready for church. Where to begin -- the dress that is an inch too short, and the unique tie job at the waist. Sadie's clips that totally don't match her dress. The hair twisted and then clipped in the back. The pony tail became pig tails during Sacrament meeting -- YES! I let them go to Church like that! How could I tell my sweet girl that she had done a crazy job? Sadie did pull the clips out before church, so we switched to the head scarf. Sadie kept that on until right before they passed the sacrament. And by her second I'm-suppose-to-be-in-nursery-but-I-keep-pooping diaper change, she was down to one little piggy. DANG! My only regret is that I didn't take more pictures!

Then we came home from church and the kids took naps so I could read my book.

I called a neighbor to borrow an egg for cornbread and she just happened to be making corn bread, so she doubled the recipe for us.

Our Home Teachers showed up with cookies. They must know the way to my heart.

And the kids were so good and reverent in Primary.

Today Nate started Preschool -- yippee! That's his twin, Elise.

And also, I need some help. I have our Ward Book club here on Thursday and I'm suppose to feed them. Anyone have a fabulous and decadent really really easy and yummy breakfast dish I can make??? Make me look like a rock star -- please!

Well i wish I had an awesome breakfast idea for book club...but thats a hard one. Really anything with berries. You can't go wrong with berries. Mabye the yummy pre-made belgian waffles from costco..whip cream and berries and syrup and honey?? You could toast them all in the oven at once, it would be easy and yummy and cooking-free!

I LOVE Ellie getting "the girls" ready, she is growing up. I love the initiative, its a good start!

You're a good mom, Charlie Brown. I'm sure you made Ellie's day. Bria likes to come up with crazy outfits for Sophie to wear, too, but she hasn't tried it on Sunday yet. Only Joel has done that, and I don't worry about hurting his feelings when it comes to dressing the kids.

Book club goodies. Breakfast. No idea. But at our last book club our hostess made these yummy little apple tarts. Mini apple pies are good enough for breakfast don't you think? (And that's all she did, pie crust and apple pie filling in a mini muffin tin.

I kept thinking, "Oh I hope she didn't make them change!" so I was relieved to hear they went to church like that. I think all moms know when other moms have given way and let their kids dress themselves. At least this is what I tell myself when my kids look like mismatched bums.

I vote for the big muffins from Costco and a fruit tray for breakfast. No assembly required! But then again, I don't make all my cards or put my cupcakes and things on fancy pedestals :-p

Have Dustin make the always fab baked french toast and buttermilk syrup. Just don't tell Dustin did it. But really, we would know! Or, you could make crepes and have build and fill your own crepes. That would be yummy - yes, you should totally do that. You can make them ahead of time and have fruit, berries, sweetened ricotta cheese, powdered sugar, yum. I might come!

And I thought when you said how awesome Sunday was, you were referring to being released! Dang.

i thought you were going to say you were released, too!!! hahahahahah! how can a harpy like you be primary president one moment longer??

1. ellie is too grown up, i think she needs to carry a barbie around with her or something.
2. ellie is holding sadie too awkwardly to let me fully indulge in the hilarity of ellie's dressing her.
3. i think karen really is getting elise ready for patriotic nazi school with the red white and blue thing going on
4. nate has a normal smile in that last picture... WHAT IS GOING ON??

love,

s, your sister... but of blood

Totally cute! I'm usually pretty anal about making sure that the kids match before we leave the house, but have completely given up with Ryan. Navy blue shirt with black shorts? Not my choice, but I'm done arguing. And Erin went to school with a two-inch butterfly tatoo smack dab in the middle of her forehead yesterday! Ack! :O

It's funny to see what they come up with next... ;)

I am so proud of your crossing out skills. So proud, so proud. (Wipe the tear here..)

If you are serving crepes or Costco muffins, I am coming.

And I love the picture of the kids all ready for church. So cute! You are nice to leave them in what she did. Except, even though there was a bit too much thigh showing, they really look cute. Carter always comes up with the best worst combos. Make sense?

I never wonder what is going on in your life. Your blog is so much fun to read. Your mom's comment makes me laugh. Glad you had a great day. I have a recipe for sticky pull aparts, made with rhodes dough and butterscotch pudding if you are interested.

Kudos to you for letting her go to church (but I have to say, I actually thought she looked really cute). I must be the mother of boys. Preschool rules!!! Can't wait.

Yeah, you should see how Maisy ends up looking when Wilson gets her dressed. What can I say, though? He's being helpful ;D That WAS super sweet of Ellie.

Oh and about breakfast--we also make a delicious buttermilk syrup. Wonder if it's the same? But, we also make caramel rolls(its a pull-apart-bread dish like monkey bread). It's really easy...let me know if you want the recipe!

Thanks for posting a picture of Elise. It's hard to find any on her mother's blog. :p
