B*O*R*I*N*G

Would you believe me if I told you how boring we have been the last week? One day all I did was catch up on shows I had on DVR. Dustin was out of town, so I always like to pull one totally lazy day in there. That was out of control lazy, though, but I really needed it. I think trade off is totally worth. A few lazy days a year allow me to save my sanity for the other 360 days of the year. I know my kids appreciate it.

The most exciting thing: Saturday Dustin and I went out to dinner. And not some chain place -- we went to a real grown up restaurant where you actually get to eat and talk for hours. We usually don't give ourselves enough time to just relax and eat, instead we kind of rush from thing to thing we want to do while we're kidless. Instead we just ate for 2 hours.

We went to Coup des Tartes in Phoenix. It was so yummy and nice to get dressed up to go out. And it wasn't even our anniversary -- just a plain old Saturday night. During dinner I told Dusitn we needed to go to grown-up restaurants more often because it was so relaxing.

Of course after we paid the bill, we went to Barnes and Noble to spend more money on books, followed by paying our babysitter and then I realized why our date nights aren't always so extravagant.

Yeah, once your realize a fancy night out costs like $150 bucks and a babysitter, Baja Fresh doesn't look so bad after all!

No pictures? What's up with that? You won't let them video chat with me! I am so sad -- do the kids even remember me? Love you, M's mom

Mom -- probably not. I guess you'll just have to come visit

Mer -- Nah, it was still worth it. Just not every weekend.

Oh, that restaurant looks amazing. I found myself looking over the menu picking what I would order . . . We love to go to super nice places for our anniversary, but for the same reasons you pointed out, even though it would be amazing to do it every date, it would cost way too much money. How fun to splurge for no reason though - awesome!!

is it even legal for you to pay your babysitter? i think it might violate some child labor laws. she might just have to do it as a favor to you... you know, for underage type of reasons. i don't think 7 year olds can work for wages. but hey, i'm just into protecting the youth.

Nice!! I love dating my husband. We just got back into dating after being dateless for ever. We unfortunately have to usually end up at a chain-ish restaurant because our babysitters charge WAY too much. Charge being key word. But I am happy to even get away, so I don't complain. I don't think I would even know how to acutally do a grown up restaurant though. The pressure of sitting up straight, choosing the right fork, and all that blah blah blah.
And I am SO in love with doing nothing every so often...probably more often than most. :) I blame Rickie for giving me the advice though!

I like to refer to that "lazy" time as "mental health" time. Seriously, if your brain runs on overload all the time, it is better to rest it than burn it out!
Thankfully, I haven't quite experienced the burn out, but I've been close a few times.

Date night like that sounds wonderful! Unfortunately, my husband's idea of a sit-down restaurant is Golden Corral, where you can get up and get more food, and then sit down and eat some more! :)

I don't think boring is even the word I would use for you!
You are so great!
I am sad I missed enrichment night. It seems like I moved and then the ward breaks out in a party! What's up with that?
Obama? really?
You are a brave girl mixing politics and religion...Like I said boring is the last word I would use!
We miss the Rogers! When are you going to visit Utah? Make sure you bring your Obama shirt it is way cute!

I agree with Dori, boring is not a word I even closly associate with you! But I do love love love lazy days! I would take one every week if I could :)

And if you ever want to trade babysitting for datenights just let me know. Sometimes the budget just can't cover it All!
