Chilly

There is still a mess from breakfast and bags to unpack, but since I'm sitting here watching the inauguration, I might as well be somewhat productive.

Thursday we left to go up with the Wright's to their family cabin in Pinetop. It was a hard vacation let me tell you. I'm not a big fan of the cold, so I volunteered to stay inside with the babies a lot. I managed to finish a book and 4 magazines and take a few naps. Plus they are such great friends that I couldn't beat the company.

The weather was actually pretty warm for this time of year, but there was plenty of snow, so the kids had a great time. Even Gimpy got out to have some fun! I will say -- snow clothes are a PAIN! I do not envy those of you in cooler climates. No sooner would the kids come in and sit by the fire before they wanted to be bundled up again. Also, I hate socks.

Dustin was sweet and took the kids sledding every day. That's got to be a workout in itself, which is probably why Dustin could eat all the fattening food we ate when we were up there. I gained 5 pounds. And I can't blame it all on the baby.

While we were up there, Sadie turned two. She was the cutest birthday girl ever. Really. You might think I'm exaggerating, but Sadie really can be the most charming child ever and she was especially angelic on her birthday. I think she might have been in shock that she was getting so much attention.

As a birthday present, the Cardinals won their game. WHATTTTT? Seriously, it was a shock. My brother lives in Philadelphia and his boys LOVE the Eagles, so before the game I wasn't sure who I was going to root for. After that first touchdown, I was a true AZ fan and I felt like they were playing a grudge match similar to the way I feel when the Y plays the U. Happily, this had a better outcome. When they won I was screaming and jumping up and down like I had been born and raised a Cardinals fan. Although now I feel like I have to watch the Superbowl. That means more nachos and 5 more pounds.

Sign me up for the nachos and the 5 pounds! You're right about snow clothes, I hate them too - too many layers to take on and off.

YOU CRACK ME UP!!! I love your way of expressing yourself and "more nachos and 5 pounds"!!
I also must say "NOT MY FAVORITE!" to the bundling and unbundling . . .which is part of why I did NOT partake of snow activities over Christmas.

Looks like you had fun. I know I hate snow clothes, thank goodness I don't have to deal with them often! Happy Birthday Sadie. And yes, I too became a Cardinals fan on Sunday, what a great game! I was screaming by the end of the game! Andy has decided he will now start watching more sports since he has a big screen now, yippy!

Ok so let's start with the fact that when growing up, you were the first one out in the snow and the last one in at the end of the day! So what's up with the I hate snow routine? Do you recall the day you and your friends decided to see if your sled would float on the creek behind our house? I also note that you were impossible to get off the ski slopes!

And the cardinals? Please -- if you had been at our awesome Eagles party, you would have been an Eagles fan!

And now for the most important thing that happened this weekend!
HAPPY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY SADIE GIRL!
Let's party again when Grandma gets there!

Love you all!

Happy Birthday to Sadie! What a cutie pie two year old. Put your seatbelt on, Mom! :)

Also, I can't even comprehend that the Cardinals are going to the Superbowl. I don't think they won a single game the entire 3 years I lived down there.

Brett is soooo excited about the Cardinals too! It really is a miracle. After that new stadium and all--it's about time they made it to the Superbowl!

Also, Brett can sympathize with the cold weather too. He is totally not a fan. I don't mind it. Oh and Happy Birthday Sadie!

Pictures in the snow are the best. I do not like being cold in the snow. This year we bundled up and it was so much fun. Happy Birthday to Sadie! She is soooooo adorable.

Yea Sadie! I love her dimpley smile. CUTE!
You know of my complete die-hard adoration of the cold weather. LOVE EVERY STINKIN SECOND OF IT.....blah! I am actually waiting on our electrician because our stupid heater is acting up. Do you know how many layers of clothes and blankets I sleep with?! The boys room is grossly warm though. So annoying! I was laughing at your mom's comment because that is how I was in the Arizona sun growing up. No shoes running around on the concrete. We had no idea how hot it was. It's something I think you learn with puberty. Add weather to another list of things you will have to teach your girls about besides the birds and bees.

Love all those cute photos. Snow is so pretty to look at through a window. I do like to watch the kids play in it but only if we have real snow clothes.

I don't think any face cake would capture that Sadiepie's darlingness! Happy Birthday Sadie!

Not fun having to unpack, but how fun to go (for your kids ;). I'm glad you guys got to get away for a bit. I am yet to watch the cardinals play, but I am so excited that they are in the superbowl. Talk about putting AZ on the map!
Of course Sadie is a sweetheart, she's a Rogers! Happy Birthday Sadie -I can't wait to watch her Monday.
Hope Ellie's arm is getting all better.

I'm so jealous that you live in Arizona. I hate the cold. once Christmas is over I am so ready for 70 degree weather.

I totally share your opinion of cold and cold weather clothes. Lily keeps wishing for snow, but I know she would change her mind if it meant she couldn't were her shorts and t-shits all the time :).
