It is a sad day when you have to admit that you are passing bad habits onto your children. The other day we were at the zoo with our neighbors and my kids were freaking out about the littlest things and one of my neighbors commented, "I wonder where they get that from," both of us knowing full well it's from ME! I have totally turned my kids into high-strung mini-me's. I was telling someone how upset I was about it today and she told me it was a good thing. Yeah, thanks for trying to make me feel better, but being high-strung is never a good thing.

And then this picture from the other night. Dustin was mowing the lawn getting ready to seed for the winter, so I took the kids out for a bike ride. On one of laps around the neighborhood, Nate saw the grass all of over the sidewalk and hopped off his bike. He then announces, "This is a MESS! Really really big mess." And then he proceeds to go get the broom and sweep the grass and take handfuls to the garbage can for the next hour. So I've made them high-strung neat freaks!

I've pretty much ruined my children. I look at sweet, mellow Sadie and wonder how long it will take me to mess her up.

Put that kid to work! Who needs Miguel when you have free child labor! :P

Loved this post! You have to mess em up somehow right? Sounds like an ok preferable way to get screwed up! ... ;) jk.
I will prob be having this conversation with you in a few years... hopefully my kids will turn into neat freaks... I don't think I could handle crazy messy kids. Hahaha

I LOVE NATE. I think you deserve a gold star for raising neat freaks. ;)

Yeah I could use some pointers because I'm living with a bunch of slobs right now that think the world is their trash can. I can certainly think of a lot more ways to ruin your kids than to teach them to be protective of their younger sibling (referring to Elie's screech at the waters edge) and to be a clean freak. No, I think they are just fine!! Ellie was SUCH a sweetie today she saw me at recess and came over to give me a big hug. SO cute!!

Don't know how it could be you -- you were not a neat freak when you were young! And messed I hardly think my adorable and beautiful grandkids are messed up -- just very mature! Nater Tater is such a little man! I just love it! M's Mom

Soon he'll be wandering around muttering "this is just a big big mess" and Sadie will be the one who rebels and be a free spirit who lets things fall where they may. She's the baby so she'll get to do whatever she wants and it'll be adorable! Love your pictures!
